Every time I look at the growth story of India I am excited about the changes and the future. Billions invested in start-ups, fastest growth rate in the number of unicorns etc.
But under the surface something does not seem to be right. Despite years of change a generation seems to be clearly not getting to participate in the upside. With the youngest population in the world we have been punching below our weight time after time and it’s time someone called it out.
The problem :
Only 1 out 5 currently employed is less than 30 years of age. With increase in number of start-ups and funding you would expect the participation to go up every year. Most certainly we are not doing enough yet.
Where is the story of young demographics paying dividends for the country? What are we doing to change the status quo?
Part of the problem is a failure of imagination to solve our unique problem. But the other part of the problem is the failure of action and waiting for someone else to solve our problem.
We don’t have enough skilled individuals, yet education is limited to a small group from our esteemed institutions. We rely on technology platforms, solutions that were not made keeping our unique problems in mind.
Technological disruption and changes in the way we work will continue to increase the skill gap and make young professionals obsolete very quickly. These changes are happening faster than anticipated.
What is the solution?
We are building a future where crowd sourced learning can help individuals close the skill gap quickly. Users learn and network with experts to keep pace with the changes. A network where people really care about helping and succeeding as a group.
Enter the world of personalised + community based learning and networking for GenZ and Millennials. Your location, gender, school does not decide your career outcome to the degree it does today. Your work and references do. It’s easier to get discovered, access and connect with strangers who can open the doors of opportunity for you and vis-a-versa.
Most young professionals will work independently at a time, place and with people of choice. The change is already brewing. More updates on Twitter👇
